Course: Diet and Nutrition for Complementary Therapist
Course requirement:
The course covers the digestive system, absorption, distribution, metabolism, and nutrients. Included are: calories, RDAs, cholesterol, carbohydrates, proteins, vegetarian diets, food allergies and food poisoning. Students must hold an approved qualification in ITEC Holistic Massage or equivalent. This course aims to enhance your other therapies by providing valuable recommendations on diet and nutrition.
Synopsis of Syllabus:
1 Detailed study of the Digestive System
2 Review all major Nutrients:
3 Food components – Body requirements and uses.
4 Macro – micro Nutrient
5 Refined and unrefined foods: the essential differences
6 Common anti-nutrients and environmental Pollutants
7 Special RDA’s for specific groups:
8 Alternatives to common foodstuffs in relationship to allergies
9 Dietary Disorders i.e. obesity, anorexia, hypoglycaemia and diabetes, as per syllabus
10 Common symptoms for specific nutrient deficiencies
11 Nutritional imbalance
12 Food Poisonings / Food poisonings / Food intolerance
13 Healthy diet and a balanced diet
