Course requirement:
The student/learner must be 18 years of age before the exam date. This new exciting course covers the ITEC syllabus Units 451,452,453,454 and Unit 455. It enables the therapist to gain practical and theoretical skill necessary to work as a Sports Massage Therapist. During the course the student/learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning the practice of Sports Massage Therapy, including Functioning Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Classification of sports injuries and the stages of healing. This New exciting course is divided into 5 units. A brief synopsis of syllabus is below.

1. History and origins of Sports massage therapy / Holistic approach – its meaning and
applications. Contraindications to massage (Red flag situations)
2. Anatomy and Physiology to cover the 8 major and 3 minor systems of the Body
3. Pathology applicable to the Systems of the body at Level 3 .
4 Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
5. Principles of health and fitness. Review of the principals of training and global year
training programs.
6. Specific Sports Massage Techniques and their applications.
7. Overview of Deep Tissue Massage (DTM) techniques and its application
8. Overview of Muscle Energy Techniques (ME) and its application.
9. Pre, Post and Inter -competition Massage routines for competitors
10. A template for prevention and conditioning Massage routines.
11. A review of acute and post-acute injuries tissue.
12. An overview of the "Ladders of Rehabilitation suitable for Level 3"
13. Cryotherapy and Thermotherapy
14. The effects of stress on the competitor and the role of massage in it’s management
15. Consultation techniques Ethics, Professionalism, Client Care
16. Health, Hygiene and Safety

Blended learning will apply and course will begin with Theory Zoom Classes
Courses are evening, weekend and part-time with a blended learning approach, some theory classes via zoom and or recorded. Notes for classes can be accessed via Media platform and or the College website.
